With 39 attractions worldwide (11 in the UK and Ireland), Sea Life Centres are the world's biggest aquarium chain. Visitors go on a magical voyage of discovery, encountering a myriad of astonishing sea creatures. All bar the oldest – the picturesquely located Scottish Sea Life Sanctuary at Oban, and the centre in Bray, Ireland – feature walk-through underwater tunnels creating the illusion of a sea bed stroll with sharks, rays and turtles gliding by. The Centres all have ray pools teeming with these inquisitive native fish, seahorse displays, octopuses and supervised rockpools, but each has its own unique features and character, with new creatures and special exhibitions every year. For example, this year the Centre in Birmingham introduced 'Claws' – monster crabs and their cousins in tanks, looking all set to get up and walk sideways out of the building. Blackpool launched a Turtle Shelter and Brighton a new 'Behind the Scenes' tour and Jellyfish Discovery exhibit. The other UK centres are in London, Loch Lomond, Great Yarmouth, Hunstanton, Scarborough and Weymouth.

Falklands 30. The Conflict. The People This new exhibition displays a collection of seven Falklands aircraft, including two Sea Harriers, the Westland Sea King piloted by HRH Prince Andrew and a captured Argentine Agusta109 helicopter which was later used by British Special Forces. Another helicopter is HMS Antrim's Wessex, which was instrumental in the destruction of the Argentine submarine Santé Fe and bears several shrapnel holes from the conflict. Fleet Air Arm Museum also remembers naval aviation pioneer Charles Rumney Samson, who 100 years ago made history with the first take off of an aircraft from a moving ship. The aircraft was a Short S27 and the ship was the battleship HMS Hibernia which had been modified, using a ramp mounted to its gun turrets. Samson's pioneering flights from ships led the way for the development of aircraft carriers, and the birth of air power from the sea.
