North West England cottages 3 holiday cottages in Cheshire
Cheshire stretches from the Dee estuary to the peak district, with heathland, woodland and rivers in between. There are several country parks, including Anderton and Marbury - so you'll have no shortage of places to walk if you're after a relaxing cottage holiday.
Chester is the main tourist attraction in Cheshire. Built by the Romans
on a loop of the River Dee, it could be reached from the sea and was
for centuries a thriving port. Most of the original town wall still
survives and makes a great walk.
Chester is also home to the UK's largest zoo. 5,000 animals, including endangered species, live here. You'll need a full day to see all of them.
The Cheshire countryside is pleasant
(and famously well-heeled); local attractions include Tatton Park near
Knutsford. Here you'll find two historic houses a mansion and old tudor hall set in 1000 acres of parkland.
