West Country cottages 2 holiday cottages in CornwallNowhere in Cornwall is more than about 20 miles from the sea, so most Cornish holiday cottages won't be far from a beach. But when choosing your cottage do bear in mind that Cornwall is a long, thin county and many of its attractions such as the Eden Project, St Ives and Land's End are at the 'far end'. Most holiday visitors to Cornwall come for the beaches and the coastline, and there is no shortage of either. The best way to appreciate the coast is on foot; why not try walking a bit of the South West Coast Path, even if only a mile or two bordering a beach. The Camel Trail, running inland from Padstow to Bodmin, is another favourite with walkers and cyclists. And if you work up an appetite, Cornwall is now a mecca for lovers of quality seafood; as well as the traditional delights of cream teas and pasties. Cornwall also much easier to get to these days, with reasonable road and rail links as well as inexpensive no frills flights to Newquay. Types of holiday cottage in CornwallMany of the holiday cottages we list in Cornwall are close to the beaches or are in harbours and fishing villages. But you will also find a number inland in quiet rural settings, many on farms, perhaps in quality barn conversions. Many of the holiday cottages we list are located in areas of outstanding natural beauty. Among the more interesting holiday cottages we currently list for Cornwall are a castle in St. Ives, a group of lovely mill cottages in St Newlyn East, some very classy cottages (with use of pool) in Looe and a former fisherman's sail and net loft in St Ives. We also list several holiday cottage agencies who specialise in self-catering rental properties and cottage holidays throughout Cornwall.
