East of England 2 holiday cottages in LincolnshireLinolnshire is a fenland county. It's probably most famous for farming, and sausages! But it also has plenty of seaside towns Skegness being its best-known resort. If you're after sand and sea, Mablethorpe offers both. Or combine culure and coastline and head for Cleethorpes, which has its own folk festival. You'll find a fair amount of history in Lincolnshire. Boston, where the Pilgrim Fathers originated, hosts some interesting builings, including the Guildhall, where you'll find a local history museum. Boston is also famous for the "Boston Stump", the biggest parish church in England, which dominates the skyline for miles around. Lincoln itself is worth a visit. Lincoln Castle is home to one of only four surviving copies of the Magna Carta. It's also worth taking a look at Lincoln cathedral. Gainsborough one of those places most of us would find hard to place is also rewarding. It's a fomer port, linked by the Trent to the Humber Estuary. And George Elliot's Mill on the Floss was set in the flood-prone countryside that surrounds it. Finally, don't overlook the Lincolnshire Wolds, those gentle hills around Louth and Horncastle. These are the perfect location for a cottage holiday, in attractive countryside that's only half an hour from the beach. Search
